Things sometimes happen faster than planned...
The NEW cj's radio olio is on the air! The new part is that the olio is availible to Listeners on BOTH dial-up and broadband! What has not changed is the wide variety of music and entertainment the olio offers 24/7 throughout the world via live365.com.

Sunday, June 13, 2004

My Friends-
cj's radio olio will be experiencing a 'course correction' in the next week. Due to financial issues,I will be dropping from the P500 Broadcasting package back to the I100. I want to make clear this has NOTHING to do with the changes in package costs on June 23. My current package runs through June 22,so the timing actually is beneficial. I know what the Landscape is for the near future.

Because of the drop in storage,I will be moving from 64/44/stereo mp3pro to 24/22/mono mp3. Yikes!! However, since I'll probably be sliding from cable to dial-up at the end of the month, this assures that I can listen to my own station! This is the best compromise between storage & audio quality for my station, since I'll need the largest number of files in order to continue the format I've made so infamous.

Yep,there'll be some tweaks here & there, but the essentials will remain. Tracks will be rarely over the 4-minute mark, but they will still come from the last 100+ years of our lives. The point I was making when I started over 2 years ago was that "It's all the Same-It's all Music". Despite occasional twists & turns, that's continued to be,& will continue to be the purpose of the olio. And,at times, confusion & bewilderment will reign. That's a big part of the fun, isn't it?

So,(if I haven't farked things up too badly the last week in preparation) the olio will survive. The only thing that changes is the slogan (& the Cafe Press schwag). Now,there is a slogan:
cj's radio olio - it's all pop!

Thank you all for your kindnesses towards somebody who you've never met but have treated like a good friend. You're stuck with me for a while longer...got any thick-sliced bologna??
Love & Peace,Clarence

Saturday, June 12, 2004

The shop at cj's radio olio has been remodeled! Now there's a wider selection of schwag than ever before. New designs and new products, but the same purpose: helping keep the olio on the air and keeping you looking good. Check out the shop at cj's radio olio now!
Love & Peace.

Join the Great Metal/Etc. Listening Summer Bash!
AES II-Cheif's Cabin is the
First Victi...er,lucky station to be observed during a special summer program based in the Live365 Metal Forum. And YOU can take part! Each week,we'll announce One Station. Just listen for at least One Hour to that station during the week. Also, check out their website. Then,by the end of the week, post your impressions in this thread.
Now,this isn't "See How Big a Flamer You Can Be".Do that, you're outta here. The
reasons for this deal is A) get more folks exposed to these stations,& B) give feedback on the station & the site. Not "You play too much Aerosmith",but is there a lot of breaks betwwen songs w/several seconds of dead air,or are the track-to-track transaitions smooth? Do the 'sets' work? Is onbe song loud & another soft? How is Navigation on the website? The point is to make a better broadcast/site experience for listeners by sharing ideas, techniques, etc. that b'casters can Use.
Join the Party!
Love & Peace.

Note to all who have cruised by my website (http://www.geocities.com/claren44/radio) with your display set on 800x600 resolution: I have changed the CSS styles sheet. It should read better,& I will continue to try & improve it for you & everyone. Combining so-so eyesight & a 1024x768 display with the fact that I'm just now beginning to get a clue about CSS,and ya get a lot of time spent saying"Wait...that's not it..._____________________"(use your own strong language).
Love & Peace.

The nominees for the 2004 Live365 Awards have been announced. And(Fanfare...),cj's radio olio is one of the Nominees for Best Freeform Station!

Stations were nominated by the Live365 Community of Broadcasters for the various awards. The voting by Broadcasters & VIP Listeners of Live365 has begun (those eligible to vote, the ballot page is www.live365.com/broadcast/bcawards-finalists). Winners will be announced May1,2004 at an Awards Banquet during the Live365 Broadcasters Convention.

The reason VIP Members & Live365 Broadcasters Only are allowed to vote is that a person Could sign up as a Free Listener under numerous names & "Stuff the Ballot Box". Having to Pay for a VIP Membership or Broadcast Fees discourages this behavior. Hopefully by next year,a system will be in place so that ALL Listeners can participate. Of course,it only costs $4.95 per month for the numerous benifits of a VIP Membership to Live365,so,if you'd like to know more, click here.

It is a special honor to be recognized by your peers. Thanks again to all the members of the Live365 Community for this Nomination!
Love & Peace.

OK...another hand-coded miracle from the olio's Webmaster (master...heh heh...)...

a site overhaul at cj's radio olio!
Now,recent visitors won't notice much visible difference. But,I finally got enough CSS into my head (& onto my hard drive in text form) to redo the main page without tables!! (There are tables used on the Live365 Webring link, but I can't control that) I have validated the HTML & the CSS with auto validators,& tried them out with IE 6,Mozilla 1.5,& Firebird 0.7. The only glitch was the first look in Mozilla was horribly wrong, but, when I refreshed the page,it showed up just fine. Ah...progress:our most important product...(think I heard that somewhere?!?)

Also,cj's radio olio now has it's own RSS feed! If you have an RSS reader/aggregator,copy & paste http://www.geocities.com/claren44/olio.xml . I'll update once-twice a week,or more if I can.

Enjoy! Love & Peace.
